Welcome to the Transportation Task Group's web site HOME
WELCOME: We would love you to help us build better transportation understanding in Worsley Boothstown and Ellenbrook. Whilst our initial work will be on bus services our future agenda will be to improve public transport provision, make our roads safer, and investigate air quality issues for our whole community. AND WELCOME ALSO: Welcome to anyone visiting us who has an interest in providing transportation in the Worsley, Boothstown and Ellenbrook areas. You are cordially invited to contact us and meet with us. Our future partnership will embrace a mutual aim to improve public transport provision, make our roads safer, and investigate air quality issues for our whole community. | WHO ARE WE: Worsley and Boothstown, together with Ellenbrook, are adjacent residential areas in the City of Salford. Salford and Manchester are twin cities in England's North West. Our residential area lies across the most westerly part of the Greater Manchester conurbation Ring Road, the M60, and lies to the north of the M62 motorway, which, for its part, is a section of a trans-european motorway joining the ports of Liverpool and Hull. Also threading through Worsley and Boothstown is the Bridgewater Canal, the world renown canal that celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2011. Our area is beset with transportation problems and we have been tasked to consider some solutions to the problems, local congestion and better public transport. wbttg is a Task Group set up by the Worsley and Boothstown Community Committee. This website will contain all background information and will record the work of the Task Group as it evolves. The first elements that have been published are an updated document written for the Community Committee to be called "Transportation: The Bigger Picture". Now expanded into the section "How Transport Works". Although specifically designed to provide our community with a picture of how public transport works locally elements may be of interest to a wider audience. This has been supplemented by the report and analysis of a survey carried out in June and July 2007. Also added is our Document Library which contains information about many transportation topics. Recently added in the summer of 2008 to account for the very wide interest locally is our Manchester Congestion Charge Index. It contains the most comprehensive listing of the AGMA, GMPTA, GMPTE and Government documentation about the Manchester Congestion Charge Bid. Our most recent news and imminent events and meetings will normally appear at the head of the home page. Anyone with an interest in or concerned about transportation in the area is invited to contact us and become involved in building a better life for our community. Anyone wishing to become involved in the general work of the Worsley and Boothstown Community Committee is welcome to contact us.
