Our "What Salford Gets" pages provide all the information as it becomes available of what is being offered to the people of Salford as new or enhanced public transport provision. We make very clear where we have sourced the information from.

wbttg is providing this information in this format, internally uneditied, to enable everyone to understand more about the public transport proposals.

The three documents called "Why What and How" by GMPTE can be obtained free of charge but you need to ask - don't be fobbed off. Call GMPTE on 0161 244 1000 (Customer Relations) NOT the freephone call centre number 0800 234 6100.

At present there are three sources of information (as shown by the LINKS above) pointing to the likely new or enhanced public transport provision that Salford might achieve:

  • An Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) Press Statement on 9th June 2008 when the consultation period was announced
  • A website called gmfuturetransport that has information on what new or enhanced provision is being offered to the people living in the city of Salford
  • The second of three information pack guides called " A description of the proposed improvements to public transport and the congestion charging scheme in Greater Manchester" This is referred to by AGMA and GMPTE as the "What" document. The three documents do have links on the gmfuturetransport website but are combersome and long to download. If you go to our Congestion Charge INDEX you will find them easier to download from there.

A further set of documents forming the TIF Bid dating from 31st July 2007 whose publication has allegedly been forced by Freedom of Information Requests does not currently form part of the analysis of the documents being offered as evidence to the public. The documents have been editied and redacted by GMPTA/E hence the red watermarks on each of the pages., If GMPTA/E had freely published these documents, as they suggest, there would be no need for them to display the red watermark.

Matters of clarification are being sought from GMPTA/E about the factual content of the gmfuturetransport website and that will be published here in due course.

The links to our pages have been placed at the top of this page for ease of navigation.

The confusing sets of statements by AGMA and GMPTA of what is on offer from these three sources does not, in our opinion, give a clear and candid statement or clear evidence on any form of definite commitment of what will be in place by 2013. We continue to seek definite statements of clear commitments.

wbttg is not promoting or suggesting any view or encouraging any particular outcome.
