This new set of pages will give links and explanation of the plans to introduce cross city bus travel as part of a larger programme to deliver £1.5 billion of transport improvements over the coming years.
The Aims of the strategy tells us:
- these improvements will form part of a larger plan to improve travel called ‘Transport Strategy for Manchester City Centre’
- it is about ensuring the transport network supports economic growth and makes the city centre a livelier and more vibrant place for everyone
- it would involve creating a more attractive central area, free of through traffic, which can be enjoyed by workers, shoppers and tourists
- Everyone would benefit from improved pedestrian links, better public transport links and, ultimately, improved air quality.
The consultation on this wider strategy started in October 2009.
